I love wedding celebrations that honor any solstice, especially summer–the longest, and lightest (hopefully) day of the year. Robyn and Steve were friends in their early teenage years, and reconnected several years ago, rekindling a friendship which sparked into a sweet romance. The nuptials included their children, both human and furry, family and close friends as attendants. An intimate and sweet ceremony full of laughs and tenderness. I was so honored to be able to photograph this beautiful celebration for a beautiful couple on a beautiful day. Pretty perfect. Cheers to many happy years together! xoxox

Sweet Baby Girl Turns ONE!
I can’t believe one year has passed since this bright little light has illuminated our lives! She is one of the most precious things we are blessed to celebrate. Little Riann, your Dad Austin would be radiating with pride over you, as we all are. Morgan planned such an adorable and delicious party. There were bubbles, and a puppy visitor, family and friends, and a roomful of presents. And of course Fleurae, created the most perfect florals to frame your cake smash. Such a sweet day, we love you so very much Riann. xo
My Little Muse {Child photography – Olympia, WA}
I hope you’re all fine with my blog stream being filled with adorable images of our sweet granddaughter. If not, darn it, get on board! She is lively and bright and so curious–it is such a joy to be with her. I dida little secret photoshoot over the holidays, and although the little vintage dress isn’t really her sweet Momma’s style, I couldn’t resist! Please enjoy the biggest blue eyes and holiday wonder. Love to you all… Cortney
Jammin’ Out
More recently, I spent a lovely morning with my friend Melissa, who has a side business in the cottage foods industry called Otis Beach Jams–these treats are low sugar, organic and locally sourced little pots of magic! She made blackberry lavender jam and you wouldn’t believe the way the kitchen smelled, absolute heaven. Check her out on Facebook, and if you would like to order a pot or two, hurry… they go fast!
Taking time to just be… {Olympia, WA Portrait Photographer}
There is a great deal of poetry and fine sentiment in a chest of tea.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I love the ritual of tea drinking. The careful preparation, the dainty accouterments, the seductive wisps of steam rising and then disappearing. I’m not sure if I prefer a solitary, meditative cup or the intimacy of sharing a pot of tea. Either way, I’ve made a resolve to drink more tea. It’s just a simple way to remind myself to pause, reflect, be grateful, dream, and breathe. It’s good to be reminded… And what better companion for tea than THIS sweetness? I wonder if there is a special tea for dogs…
Summer Breezes, Love in the Afternoon… {Engagement Session, Olympia, WA}
These two! I cannot wait to photograph the wedding of Krosbie and Justin this fall. They are wildly in love and so, soooo sweet to one another. We started the portrait session out in the studio, made our way to the boardwalk, did some abandoned warehouse exploring, and then headed back to their newly purchased home–which they moved into THE DAY BEFORE!!! Happily greeting us was their sweet baby Kingston, 3 month old Shepherd mix–his paws are GINORMOUS! So much fun ending the session with the two of them, piled on the floor surrounded by boxes, eating take out Thai… ahhhh, such is young love : )

Time for a Change… {Studio Relocation Project, Phase One} Olympia, WA
Well, I never imagined I would outgrow my adorable studio, but the time has come. I am BEYOND THRILLED to be moving into the Harmony Market Building along with Nathan Peppin of Peppin Photography. We’ve been sharing space for a couple of months and though it’s great, we need a larger space where we can both be shooting at the same time. The new space is GINORMOUS (not a real word, I know…) and the natural light makes the angels sing. I’ve been in love with the space for ages, and often dreamt of having a photo shoot in the glorious loft. How dreams manifest is truly a miracle. I had been talking with a one of my wedding clients about our favorite buildings downtown and the next time I ran into the groom, he mentioned having lunch with the building owner. Two days later I received an email from her and after many emails and a meeting, we signed the lease today! Thank you Michael! And thanks Jennie for referring Michael and Sarah! What an awesome town Olympia is…
When Nathan and I walked through the space with the building owner, I literally felt like and 8 year old on Christmas Eve standing at the gates of Disneyland with glittery shoes on and a bag full of candy loaded on the back of my unicorn. Yes, THAT excited! Butterflies start fluttering in my stomach every time I think about it : )
For those of you who know this building, you will likely share my excitement. We have grand plans for utilizing the space as a photography studio and we can’t wait to share our ideas for events we plan on hosting. So many things to look forward to!
I can’t wait, but I will have to. The current tenants will be moving out in June/July. Our goal is to be in there and ready to roll in early August. So it’ll be a few months left on Washington Street… and then moving four blocks down and into a whole new vibe.
I will miss this darling space:
Hello Class of 2013! {High School Photography Reps, Olympia, WA}
I love photographing teens–they are so full of sass, fresh perspectives and enthusiasm–and that’s so very contagious! Thankfully the weather cooperated with my first round of Studio Rep photo shoots. We are gearing up for the promo posters for a fashion show in Westfield Capital Mall this May. I can’t wait!
